Steps to setting up Bing Places (a.k.a. Bing Maps) for a Local Business. This is part of a larger local marketing strategy to position your business as the number one business in your geographic area for digital search by your new and existing customers, the strategy is about capture their eyes, irrelevant of how they try to find you by targeting all the major local marketing search engines.

In this example I will be working with www.PlusMedicalClinic.com.au

Login in with your Microsoft Account: See: Setup Microsoft Account for Business

Fill in User Profile

To Add you Need To Search

There is no obvious add business menu or button, so you first need to do a search for your business, I have used Plus Medical Clinic in Parramatta

Create New Business

Scroll to the bottom of the list of businesses and you can then click the Create new business button

Enter Basic Business Details

Enter Business Ours & Photos

Enter in Hours of Operation
Upload some images, set one of those images to be the primary image for the listing

Additional Business Details

Enter the followoing:

  • Description of business
  • Tag Line for the business
  • Parking Options
  • Pament Options
  • Year Established

Verify Account

Verify By Email

If your email address matches your domain name, then you can verify via an email address by selecting one of the domain options in the dropdown list and then selecting then filling in the other parts of your email.
If your email does not match the domain name, then you will need to verify via postcard.

Check Email for Pin

Click Enter Pin

Enter Pin and Submit

Account is now Verified

Public Status – About a two week wait

This listing will be processed by Microsoft and you business should go up online in about two weeks time.
